This week was Armed Forces Week. RBFRS is proud to support all those who are serving, have served, and thier families.

This week we joined our partners at the @priors_co

This week we joined our partners at the @priors_court Careers Day - to put on a range of activities for the young people there, including the opportunity to explore one of our fire engines and meet our Blue Watch Newbury crew.

The day was organised to help young people explore the world of work, what people do for jobs out in the community, and roles they might not otherwise encounter.

We hope that all the young people enjoyed the day - thank you to Prior's Court for inviting us to be part of it.

On Wednesday evening, White Watch from Caversham Road Fire Station took a short trip north of the Thames to give water safety advice and throwline training to residents in Caversham.

Around a thousand people attended Maidenhead Fire

Around a thousand people attended Maidenhead Fire Station’s Open Day last Sunday.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to promote fire safety awareness and an opportunity for the local community to find out more about the services we provide, as well as partner organisations.

As you can see in the photos, our White Watch crew completed a road traffic collision demonstration and our Fire Cadets showcased their skills during a house fire demonstration. Our on-call crew at Maidenhead also provided information to people who are interested in becoming a firefighter.

In addition, there were a lot of fun activities to get involved in, including face painting and a show and tell around the fire engines.

On the day we were fundraising for The Fire Fighters Charity, who provide a range of wellbeing services to the fire and rescue service community. Over £1,500 was raised for the charity. Thank you to the kind donations from people who attended and the local businesses that attended.

If you missed this event, our next Open Day is planned for Newbury Fire Station on Saturday, 3 August.

Green Watch from Slough and Langley fire stations,

Green Watch from Slough and Langley fire stations, alongside our partners at Leisure Focus, visited Braywick Leisure Centre to give water safety advice to 250 students.

Crews taught students what to do if they fall into water, how to use a throwline and performed several water rescue demonstrations.

On the evening of Monday, 10 June, crews took plac

On the evening of Monday, 10 June, crews took place in a joint training exercise in Newbury town centre.

The exercise involved us responding to a fire in a multi storey car park in a shopping centre. We worked with South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police during the scenario, to simulate a multi-agency response.

Training exercises like this help crews to familiarise themselves with local risk and to rehearse inter agency response to large scale scenarios.

Our White Watch crew at Slough Fire Station has recently been out supporting @sloughoutreach.

They took part in giving food donations and advice to people suffering from homelessness and displacement in Slough.

If anyone would like to donate, they are now collecting non-perishable food, at Slough Fire Station so they can support SHOC Slough Homeless our concern, in distributing food in July.

On Saturday, our Caversham Road and Wokingham Road

On Saturday, our Caversham Road and Wokingham Road crews took part in Reading Water Fest 2024, alongside our partners from Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue - BLSAR.

Returning for the 35th year, the event was organised by Reading Council in partnership with the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust and took place within the Forbury Gardens, Abbey Ruins, and along the River Kennet.

There were large crowds at the event, allowing us to share information with the public about being safe around water and fire safety in the home both on land and on the water.

The rescue boat based at Caversham Road was invited to be part of the large flotilla parade of vintage narrow boats.

The event was a great opportunity to promote water safety and showcase the work that our crews do. Thank you to all those who talked to us during the event.

We are proud to be joining communities across Berk

We are proud to be joining communities across Berkshire today in marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

In Crowthorne, our crews are supporting a free family event at the Morgan Rec, which culminates with a lighting of the beacon. As a tribute, the front of the fire station has been decorated with silhouettes and poppies on the grass. Find out more on the Crowthorne Parish Council page. RBFRS staff will also be attending events in Theale, Bracknell and Hungerford. #ddayanniversary
