At 3:12 pm on Wednesday, 12 February, we received reports of a fire on Friar Street in Reading.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Wokingham and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene alongside two Officers.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a wooden window frame on fire. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used cutting gear and two hose reels to extinguish the fire before checking the building for possible fire spread. They then used fans to ventilate smoke from the property.
Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 20 minutes before returning later to reinspect for hotspots. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
