At 9:08am on Sunday, 16 February, we received reports of a fire on Whitley Wood Road, Reading.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood Fire Stations were sent to the scene, alongside three Officers.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire in a ground floor flat of a property. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.
One person tragically died at the scene. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.
Crews were at the scene for one hour and 38 minutes. An investigation will be completed to establish the cause of the fire.
