At 2:05pm on Friday, August 12, we received reports of a fire in the open on Burchetts Green Road in Maidenhead.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caverhsam Road, Wokingham Road, Newbury, Wokingham, Mortimer, Ascot, Slough, Langley, Maidenhead, Whitley Wood and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene. They were joined by a six wheel drive pump, a water carrier and four officers.
Upon arrival, crews found a large fire in the open in a wooded area. Using four jets and two hose reels, firefighters were able to contain the fire.
Crews remained on the scene for several days as the fire burnt out.
