At 1:49am on Wednesday, 1 May, we received reports of a fire at Mill Place in Datchet.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough and Langley fire stations were sent to the scene alongside a Water Carrier and two Officers, one of whom was from Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a horse stable. Crews equipped with breathing apparatus rescued a horse and used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Sadly, one horse passed away at the scene.
Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 30 minutes before handing over to Thames Valley Police who are appealing for witnesses. Read more on their website.
