At 5:44pm on Thursday, 20 March, we received reports of a fire on Connaught Road in Reading.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside one Officer.
Upon arrival, crews found the living room of the property on fire. Six firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to put out the fire, before using a ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property. Crews also rescued one cat from the property, safely placing them in the care of the owner who took it to a vet.
They were on scene for approximately two hours and one minute.
