At 11.13am on Friday, 16 August, we received reports of a fire at a house on Priory Avenue, Hungerford.
Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station were sent to the scene, together with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station and crews from Dorset and Wiltshire and Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service. Three Officers were also sent to the scene.
Firefighters found a fire at a two storey semi-detached house, with the fire on the first floor. One man was located and rescued from the building, however, he sadly passed away as a result of his injuries. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire, before ventilating the area.
