Oil Spillage in Thatcham

At 10:04am on Wednesday, 26 March, we received reports of an oil spillage near Brackenwood Lane in Thatcham.

Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found that a diesel drum had leaked a large quantity of diesel. After liaising with a hazmat officer, crews used 10 tonnes of sand to absorb the oil spillage, before handing the scene over to the onsite staff and the Environment Agency.

They were on scene for approximately 42 minutes.
