At 11:27am on Saturday, 2 September, we received reports of a fire on a passenger train near Pangbourne Station.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham Road, Newbury, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside an Officer, an Incident Command Unit, a Water Carrier, an off-road appliance and crews from Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.
Upon arrival, crews discovered and extinguished a fire in a brake block on one of the train’s carriages. Firefighters then assisted with a non-emergency evacuation of the train at Pangbourne Station.
Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.
