Update 15:17
At 9.33am on Tuesday, 11 July we received reports of a domestic fire on Ragstone Road, Slough.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough, Langley, Windsor and Maidenhead were sent to the scene, along with three Officers. A crew and a Turntable Ladder from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service was also sent to the scene.
Upon arrival crews discovered a first floor loft conversion and a roof of a detached property well alight.
Four firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two hose reels and two main jets.
One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by South Central Ambulance Service.
Crews were initially on the scene for approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes, however one crew remains on scene.
Following a fire investigation, the most probable cause of the fire was identified as a lithium-ion battery from an e-bike. E-bikes and e-scooters are becoming increasingly popular, and they can catch fire quickly and with little warning. With their increased use, comes a corresponding fire safety concern associated with their charging and storage. The dangers can occur when e-bikes and e-scooters are left on charge and unattended in homes.
