At 6:28pm on Friday, 7 February, we received reports of a vehicle fire on the A34 Southbound between East Ilsley and Chieveley.
Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station and a crew from Theale Community Fire Station were sent to the scene. They were joined at the scene by three crews and an Officer from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and a Water Carrier from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Upon arrival, crews found one coach on fire and a road traffic collision involving 11 cars. Two firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels to put out the fire and make the scene safe. 15 people were taken into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
Crews were on scene for approximately two hours and 30 minutes before handing over to Thames Valley Police.
