Incident in Reading

At 8:48pm on Wednesday, 14 August, we received reports of an incident on Caversham Bridge in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham Road, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside a Water Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station and an Officer.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a person who had been rescued from the from the water by two members of the public in a boat, assisted by Thames Valley Police officers.

Crews searched the area for a suspected second person in the water before handing the scene over to Thames Valley Police once it was determined that nobody else was missing. One person was taken into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were at the scene for approximately 55 minutes.
