Royal Berkshire Fire Authority is pleased to confirm that the current Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Trevor Ferguson, will become the next Chief Fire Officer of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) following the retirement of Andy Fry in April 2017.
Royal Berkshire Fire Authority sought an individual of exceptional calibre to continue the delivery of its ambitious Vision 2019. Trevor transferred from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service to RBFRS in October 2014, and with over 26 years’ service behind him, he will bring a wealth of experience to the role when he takes over the reins next spring.
As part of the senior management team, Trevor has worked alongside colleagues to develop plans which will broaden RBRFS’ contribution and place its fire stations at the heart of communities. When he takes over from Andy he will continue the process of leading delivery of these plans as the Chief Fire Officer.
Following Trevor’s appointment, the Chairman of Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, Councillor Colin Dudley, said: “Trevor has been an exceptional Deputy Chief Fire Officer and I have no doubt that he will be an equally excellent Chief. His professionalism, commitment and leadership will ensure that Service continues to focus on doing the best job it possibly can for communities across Berkshire and the continued delivery of Vision 2019”.
Chief Fire Officer Andy Fry, said: “I very much welcome Trevor’s appointment as my successor and have every confidence that, alongside a brilliantly-talented team, he will continue to ensure that Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service works hard to provide the best possible outcomes for this great County. It remains a huge privilege, and a great honour, to be Chief Fire Officer of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and I look forward to working with Trevor in the coming months to ensure that the process of him taking over from me runs as smoothly as possible.”
Speaking about his appointment, Trevor said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the role of Chief Fire Officer. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is a fine organisation and it will be my very great privilege to lead it as the County’s new Chief Fire Officer.”
