Jam-packed weekend for the Crowthorne community

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue (RBFRS) staff are going to be taking on a chilling challenge to raise as much as possible for Comic Relief and The Fire Fighters Charity!

The first part of this jam-packed weekend will see six members of the RBFRS team spending 24 hours in the drill tower at Crowthorne Fire Station on the High Street. It is anticipated that it will feel around 2°c for the team that are taking on the challenge, but they are persevering in the hope of raising £1,000 for Comic Relief. They will begin the challenge on Friday, 24 March at 3 pm and it will run until Saturday, 25 March at 3 pm.

Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK which strives to create a just world, free from poverty.

During the challenge, Crowthorne firefighters are going to be joining in on the fundraising efforts to support The Fire Fighters Charity. The firefighters will be holding a car wash as part of the national car wash league between 10 am and 2 pm.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides a range of services for fire service personnel and their families, including therapy and rehabilitation for injured firefighters. Donations help the charity to continue in the provision of life enhancing services to the fire and rescue community.

There will also be much more on offer, including a pop-up shop which will raise further funds for The Fire Fighters Charity and a bake sale from which the donations will be sent to Comic Relief. During the weekend, fire engine tours will be on offer to the local community.

If you would like to support the 24-hour tower challenge team, visit their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/24-Hour-Tower.

This challenge and car wash is the perfect opportunity to bring the community together whilst raising much-needed funds for two very deserving causes.
