Whilst Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service continues to provide effective operational response arrangements, at this time, the service is limiting non-essential contact with the public to help control the spread of Coronavirus and ensure our teams continue to be available to respond to emergencies.
This follows the Government’s announcement to move to the delay phase which is focused on controlling the spread of Coronavirus.
In support of this, we have temporarily suspended school visits, station visits and other non-essential activities. We are also taking responsible steps to protect our communities and staff from unnecessary risk by suspending Safe and Well Visits, with the exception to individuals considered to be of the highest risk from fire.
Chairman of Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, Councillor Colin Dudley, said: “To be clear, our 999 emergency response will be provided as usual, but please be patient when calling our teams regarding non-urgent issues.
“Like other emergency services, we’re working hard to protect our staff and the wider community from the spread of COVID-19, and continue to follow guidance from Government and Public Health England.
“While I understand that suspending our non-essential services may be disappointing for some, I’d like to reiterate that this is a temporary measure and our priority is the health and wellbeing of our communities and teams.”
