Proud to be short-listed for ‘Employer of the Year’ at the English Veterans’ Awards

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is delighted to have been shortlisted in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category at the English Veterans Awards.

On the evening of Wednesday, 23 October 2024 we were delighted to attend the prestigious awards ceremony, at the De Vere Wokefield Estate, near Reading, where the category winners were selected by a panel of judges.

Paul Brooks, Head of Assets, and Armed Forces Champion for RBFRS said: “What an honour it was to attend this event as one of the few organisations shortlisted in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category.”

“We are absolutely thrilled that our hard work in supporting all who have served their country, and continue to serve, has been recognised in this way. My personal thanks and respect go to each and every one of you. We will continue to show our support to the Armed Forces Community and to encourage Veterans’ to apply to join RBFRS in our recruitment campaigns.”

“We now look ahead to our next Armed Forces Veterans’ Hub event, which will be held at Newbury Fire Station on Friday, 8 November.”

“Our congratulations go to all those recognised during the ceremony for your work with the Armed Forces community.”

RBFRS is committed to promoting the inclusion of those who have served their country, ensuring equality and inclusion as part of RBFRS’ broader Equality, Diversity and Inclusion programme.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is a ‘good fit’ employer for Veterans to transition to and employs at least 25 Veterans in a variety of roles including Firefighter, IT, Programme Office, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Facilities and Communications and Engagement.

We recognise that ex-forces personnel have great strengths and strong transferable skills to bring to any role within our Fire and Rescue Service. They have a strong commitment to public service and community.

We are proud to support those who serve, and who have served, and their families.

RBFRS has established pathways for transition from the Armed Forces to the fire and rescue service.
