Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is launching a new series of Discover a Career as a Firefighter Sessions to help potential applicants find out more about the role.
The Discovery Sessions are an opportunity for people to visit fire stations, meet crews and find out more about the application process to become a firefighter.

Speaking on the sessions, Claudia Trott, EDI Lead at RBFRS: “If you’ve thought about becoming a firefighter but don’t know what to expect – don’t worry! Our Firefighter Discovery sessions have been created to give you an insight into life as a firefighter and how the application process works.
“During the sessions, you will be able to meet with some of our serving firefighters and get a better idea of whether this is the career for you. We recommend taking part in both the Firefighter Discovery Day and the online Firefighter Recruitment Journey sessions to get as much out of the programme as possible.”
The Discover a Career as a Firefighter programme is broken into two different kinds of sessions. The Firefighter Discover Days are held at fire stations across the county and are aimed at giving attendees an overview of the role of a modern firefighter.
Meanwhile, the Firefighter Recruitment Journey sessions are hosted online and are designed to give attendees all they need to know about the recruitment process to give them best possible chance of success.
Starting from Saturday, 26 April, the Service will be running seven sessions through the spring and early summer:
Saturday, 26 April: Firefighter Discovery Day
Saturday, 10 May: Firefighter Discovery Day
Friday, 6 June: Firefighter Discovery Day
Thursday, 12 June: Firefighter Recruitment Journey: From Application to Appointment
Monday, 23 June: Firefighter Recruitment Journey: From Application to Appointment
Thursday, 10 July: Firefighter Recruitment Journey: From Application to Appointment
