Recommendation 18:

By 1 August 2023, chief fire officers should provide assurances to HMICFRS that all parties are supported in relation to ongoing investigations.

RBFRS action: Various routes of support are available to all staff – EAP advice and guidance line, the opportunity to raise issues through the anonymous reporting platform as appropriate, line manager support, chaplains, Blue Light Champions and a named HR adviser is provided as a point of contact in all formal processes, both for the complainant and those under discipline investigation. Complainants and individuals subject to discipline are also provided a nominated welfare officer.
